Our New Hampshire Adventure

Last week I planned a mini-vacation for the kids and me. I have been saying I want take them to Storyland for the past year or two. But just never got my act together to pull it off. Storyland is an amusment park created for small children. Every ride is young child compatible. I was worried that Jessica is a little at the upper range- but Jessica being Jessica meant that regardless she was going to have a good time. So we headed up to New Hampshire on Tuesday afternoon. After checking into our motel we headed over to Storyland. If you enter Storyland after 3pm you get a free day- so for the price of one day we went for one and a half.

Here is Jessica giggling with excitement on the water raft ride.

This was one of Justin's favorite places- the Looby Lab- a huge room filled with foam balls that are sucked up and shot out all over the place.

They had misting tents everywhere to cool off- the kids love those.

Here are the flying fish. Because Justin is not quite 48" tall he had to ride on most rides with me. Luckily the workers took pity on me a few times and didn't make me go on the twirling turtles 4x.

After our first night we headed out to the motel to go swimming. The owners two children came out to swim at the same time and the kids had a blast. Justin announced he wants to live in a motel some day too.
Here is the restaurant we ate in a few times. Very kid friendly and there was a train that ran all along the ceiling- Justin loved that!

The next day was hot, so the kids wore their suits so that they could enjoy the water park.

Ahhhh! I am sticking my head in a lion's mouth!!!

Swan boats- but in our children's careful hands it was more like bumper swan boats.

Mmmm this was our lunch- fried dough and ice cream (shhh don't tell Daddy).

Sitting on Cinderella's throne.

Justin teasing the people inside the big octopus trying to get them to shoot water guns at him.

The kids love to pose in the cutouts- every time we came upon any of them they made me take their pictures.

One last spin on the teacup ride!

We left the park just before the rain hit. The kids were very bummed that they didn't get to enjoy the motel pool again. The next morning when we woke up it was rainy and overcast. I was ready to just head home but Marc, captain radar, checked and thought the weather would hold out. So glad we listened to him because then we headed to Attitash for the day. We had been driving past this place every day 2 or 3 times a day so Jessica REALLY wanted to go. Because it was overcast there were hardly any people there so we didn't really have to wait in line very much. First stop- Alpine Slide! We took the ski lift up and then went down the mile long track. Again because Justin was not 48" yet he and I had to go on the same slide. This was a good thing because he only had two speeds- go fast and stop- I had to introduce him to slow down just a little. We loved the slide. Our favorite run of the day was when we were behind 2 teenage boys- they don't slow down for anything so Justin and I got to go fast enough we caught up to Jessica on the other track and "raced" down.

After the slide we then went to the Bungie Jumper!

Jessica had watched some older kids doing flips and was trying hard to do it when it was her turn. Check her out:

Can't pass by a cut out...

We headed to the waterslides next- there was one that all three of us went on the same tube- very fun. After lunch we headed up the scenic ride all the way to the top of the mountain. It was a 30 minute ride up and a 30 minute ride down.

Here we are on the chairlift going up...

more ski lift fun...

All of us at the top!

Justin asked me to take this picture (aren't you loving all the pictures where he is looking at the camera and smiling?).

Going down! On the way down every time we passed someone Jessica would say "It is a beautiful view" and Justin would say "half hour up half hour down". Every time folks- every time. It was a bit of a longer ride down than up.

We all had a wonderful time and we can't wait to go back next year. There is so much to do up there and so many more places we want to explore- oh and we want to swim in the hotel pool some more too.
