Eric Carle Museum

With MORE rainy weather on its way we headed up to the Eric Carle Museum in Amherst, MA. Jessica had been with school and had been asking to return. So we headed up there on July 1- another gloomy day. When we arrived they had this very cool car that was painted to look like the hungry caterpillar. Just as I snapped this picture- a huge clap of thunder roared- look at their faces- too funny. We ran inside right afterwards.

When we went in, we were told it was half price day- yeah! But that was because only one of the two galleries was open- oh well.

We went into the gallery first- no picture taking allowed in there sorry. There was a checklist that the kids could take into the gallery with a clipboard. They loved that and made sure they checked everything off- so they got a stamp and a tattoo. Justin became absolutely entranced with one picture in particular. It was of the very hungry caterpillar with a birthday cake when it was celebrating its 25th anniversary. Justin told us to go on without him and he was just going to sit there and look at that picture- and that is what he did. We would pull him away to see something and then he would go right back and sit there again. They had a gallery of EH Sheppard Winnie the Pooh drawings too- we wished Daddy were with us, he would have liked that part for sure.

After the gallery we went to the library.


But we didn't last long. We were too excited to go to the Art Gallery where we got to make our own Eric Carle type of picture. Here is Jessica with her CRAZY picture- thus her CRAZY face.

Justin tried to recreate the picture he loved so much of the hungry caterpillar with his birthday cake. [the first part is scribbled out because he originally wrote Justin by and then realized his error so he scribbled out the first part so now it says "By Justin".]
